Learn Spanish in Tamarindo

Tamarindo, Costa Rica

A tropical paradise on the Pacific Ocean, Tamarindo is a cosy and welcoming town you won’t want to leave.

Palm trees sway all around Tamarindo. This welcoming Pacific Ocean town has become Costa Rica’s most loved beach destination. And it’s the beach that wows most of all, seemingly endless kilometres of sand fringed by surf breaks and tropical forest.

Time moves slowly in Tamarindo. This popular little beach town is where many visitors come to surf and sleep through the day. But to simply rest would mean missing out on some of Costa Rica’s finest nature. The town is situated inside a national park. Hikes and water adventures can take you in many directions. Volcanoes are easily visited on day trips. The scuba diving is superb and you’ll spot howler monkeys on a regular basis.

All this adds up to a destination that can always suit your mood. After your Spanish lessons you can hang out on the beach, learn to surf, or hit the bars. You could quickly escape into nature or search out the more local parts of town. The town’s restaurants are considered the country’s best and you’re spoilt for choice over where to dine. Then on days off you’re perfectly situated for exploring Costa Rica’s northern peninsula.

Tamarindo beach

Tamarindo’s main beach is long. There’s space for everyone here, whether you like surf breaks, beach combing, pure tranquility or beachside bars. And when you’re done with this beach there are two even longer beaches just steps away.

Nature & wildlife

Howler monkeys swing through the trees in and around Tamarindo. Parakeets screech and one of the world’s largest leatherback turtle nesting sites is just a few kilometres away. Bird watching is part of the everyday experience and you’re continually surrounded by nature, even in the town.

Volcano

Costa Rica is dominated by volcanos and there are many of them close to Tamarindo. Arenal is the most famous and can be done on a day or overnight excursion, with hot springs and a volcanic mud bath a part of the experience.

Scuba diving

The Catalina Islands are a diving paradise just 25 minutes by boat from Tamarindo. Sharks and rays are abundant here, along with a superb variety of smaller marine species. There are 40 different dive sites to suit different abilities, plus it’s a good place to learn how to dive.

San Jose

Costa Rica’s capital is an unmissable part of visiting Tamarindo. It’s more than just a transport hub. With a charming heritage and bustling modern atmosphere, San Jose is many people’s favourite capital city in Central America.
