A tropical paradise on the Pacific Ocean, Tamarindo is a cosy and welcoming town you won’t want to leave.
Palm trees sway all around Tamarindo. This welcoming Pacific Ocean town has become Costa Rica’s most loved beach destination. And it’s the beach that wows most of all, seemingly endless kilometres of sand fringed by surf breaks and tropical forest.
Time moves slowly in Tamarindo. This popular little beach town is where many visitors come to surf and sleep through the day. But to simply rest would mean missing out on some of Costa Rica’s finest nature. The town is situated inside a national park. Hikes and water adventures can take you in many directions. Volcanoes are easily visited on day trips. The scuba diving is superb and you’ll spot howler monkeys on a regular basis.
All this adds up to a destination that can always suit your mood. After your Spanish lessons you can hang out on the beach, learn to surf, or hit the bars. You could quickly escape into nature or search out the more local parts of town. The town’s restaurants are considered the country’s best and you’re spoilt for choice over where to dine. Then on days off you’re perfectly situated for exploring Costa Rica’s northern peninsula.

Learn moreLinguaschools Tamarindo is tucked away in tropical gardens, just a few minutes walk from the town and the beach. The school itself is a new, custom-built facility, designed to accommodate a wide range of learners. There are classrooms of different sizes, plus a large top floor where students can relax between classes. It’s peaceful here, listening to the sound of the birds in the garden before jumping into the next class of the morning.
When designing the school we wanted a welcoming, informal space, where students will immediately feel at home and want to hang out after classes as well. Study at Linguaschools Tamarindo and you’ll find this out for yourself.
We believe that intensive courses are the best way to learn Spanish. Courses at Linguaschools Tamarindo give you a minimum of 20 classes per week. Learning in small groups ensures lots of teacher contact while also providing opportunity to converse with others.
The intensive courses provide a rounded Spanish experience, covering all aspects of learning a language. Individual courses can be tailored; for example, to conversational Spanish or any area you are struggling with. A mix of group and individual lessons is optimal but don’t think it’s all just studying here. The cultural program will take your Spanish onto the streets, plus there’s a special learn Spanish and surfing combination course.
Please note that the school is closed on bank holidays. Any missed group lessons are generally not made up for. On some holidays an activity will be scheduled instead. When there are 2 public holidays in 1 week, 1 day of missed group lessons will be made up for.
All our student residences are within walking distance of the beach and the school – perfect! Each is a relaxed place to live, with large social areas for hanging out with fellow students. Wi-Fi is available and these social student residences mean you always have opportunity to practice your Spanish.
Standard checkout is the Saturday after your course. In Tamarindo you can choose to stay one day longer, until Sunday, for no extra cost. Please make a note on your enrolment form to book this.
Cultural activities are the best way to practice your Spanish in everyday situations.
You always have fun in Tamarindo. The cultural program is just another part of the immersive experience and it’s a great way to meet the locals. Think dance classes, cooking classes, meeting with Costa Ricans who are learning English, and afternoons on the beach. From Tamarindo there are some stunning weekend excursions as well.
