Granada is one of the most beautiful cities to visit in winter and Christmas is an ideal time. It’s a very special date, a very familiar moment in which the Spaniards spend a lot of time with their loved ones remembering good times, eating delicious food and opening presents.
In Granada, Christmas begins with the lighting of lights and extends until the day of Reyes (January 6th). If you come during this time, you can enjoy incredible visual effects throughout the city that begin at 6:30 p.m. and remain until midnight. In addition, this year you’ll be able to enjoy the giant ball of the Fuente de las Batallas and the Noria-Mirador on the Paseo del Salón.
Another typical Christmas tradition is to visit the different nativity scenes of the neighborhood associations as well as the Christmas market of the Bib-Rambla square that opens every day at 10 am.
If you have a sweet tooth, you can’t miss the typical Christmas sweets. Some of the most famous ones are turrón and polvorones, as well as the handmade sweets of Casa Pasteles located in the Plaza Larga of the Albaicín neighborhood or those made by the Comendadores de Santiago in the Realejo neighborhood.
This year at Linguaschools Granada, we’ve organized a Christmas photo contest among our students. Once we select the best ones, we’ll exhibit them at the school.
