What’s on in May in Barcelona?

  • Buy a vinyl record at the International Record Fair: This fair gathers those who are nostalgic for vinyl in Barcelona, this year on May the 5th, 6th and 7th. Far from being an exclusive meeting for lovers of rock and heavy metal produced between the ’70s and ’90s, it offers music for all audiences. And not only in terms of genres, but also because of the various formats that can be found. With an indisputable volume of attendance, the Fira Internacional del Disco de Barcelona has become, once again, a place of congregation for all those who refuse to reduce music to a simple digital file. And the tickets are just 6€!

  • Do you fancy a vermouth? During the same weekend, you can live “the vermut experience” at the Port Vell in Barcelona. There you’ll find the Fira Vermut & Soul, with tickets at just 3.5€! Vermouths, beer, snacks, live music… at the harbour, what else do you need?
  • Discover an art space in Poblenou: The Poblenou Open Day, which will take place on Saturday the 6th, proposes a program of free activities and special promotions around art, creativity, gastronomy and performing arts and music, with more than 150 open spaces. It’s a unique opportunity to get to know places in this neighbourhood that are normally closed to the public, and to discover art galleries and studios, creation centers, advertising agencies, audiovisual production companies and gastronomic spaces. Be there at 12 am and have a fantastic day!
  • Are you a biker? On May the 11th – 14th Motoh Barcelona takes places in the city. This benchmark event, in a 100% biker environment and open to new audiences, brings all to its visitors closer to the main efficient mobility solutions, and proposes a multitude of recreational and educational experiences on two wheels.

  • Enter a museum for free… and at night! This May the 13th Barcelona celebrates the “La noche de los museos”, in which 75 cultural centers will open free from mid-afternoon until nightfall, offering a different way of seeing the exhibitions, both permanent and temporary, as well as the opportunity to enjoy activities for all ages, such as family workshops, live performances and guided tours. You can visit ​​a large number of entities specialized in art, archaeology, history, authors, ethnology, paleontology, ceramics, zoology, cinema, design and much more.
  • Watch a match of the Barcelona Polo Challenge Cup: Experience the live show of one of the oldest sports in the world, where speed and the rider-horse relationship make the difference in the game. The Real Club de Polo de Barcelona hosts the 55th edition of the International Polo Tournament, the Barcelona Polo Challenge Negrita Cup. Three matches a day, over two weekends (May the 12th-14th and 16th-21st), that will face six teams made up of players from all over the world. Check it out here.
  • Take a walk at the Barcelona Modernist Fair: The 17th edition of this unique fair (May the 19th, 20th and 21st) will be dedicated to the modernist arquitect Lluís Domènech i Montaner. It will be held at Carrer Bruc between Diagonal and Consell de Cent, mainly, and at the other usual spaces such as the Mercat de la Concepción, with different activities open to the public.

  • Attend the Elton John’s concert: After cancelling a tour in 2020 and again in 2021, the famous British artist will be finally back in Barcelona, to offer a concert on May the 22nd and 23rd. Get your tickets here.
