World Cup Fever Hit Granada!

Spain has always had a special relationship with football, and last month that passion was impossible to miss at Linguaschools Granada.

Throughout July, cafés filled up before kick-off, conversations turned to the national team within minutes, and the city’s usual laid-back rhythm sped up every time Spain stepped onto the pitch, all the way to the final, where La Roja lifted the World Cup trophy! For anyone studying Spanish in Granada, it was the perfect real-life lesson in how much this sport means here. ⚽

Of course, we caught the fever too! Our students cheered hard for the Spanish national team, and the school itself got a World Cup makeover: Spanish flags hung alongside flags from every country represented in our classrooms, turning the school into a small map of the world. Whenever there was a match, students gathered together to watch, and the energy was contagious. 🎉

But that wasn’t all. We also organized a friendly football match between our students and a group of local kids from the city. It was a fantastic afternoon of teamwork, laughter, and plenty of Spanish practice, the kind of real cultural exchange that no textbook can teach. Everyone had a great time, win or lose!

Moments like these are what make studying abroad unforgettable: you don’t just learn the language, you live it, one match at a time.

Spain’s celebrations aren’t over yet, either, as World Cup champions, La Roja will step back onto the official pitch on September 26th, taking on England at Wembley in their opening UEFA Nations League match.

Will you be cheering along with us? 😊
