Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) is celebrated in Mexico between October 28th and November 2nd. During this holiday, Mexicans remember and honor their deceased loved ones. It is a festive and colorful holiday celebrating the lives of those who have passed on. Mexicans visit cemeteries, decorate the graves and spend time there, in the presence of their deceased friends and family members. They also make decorated altars in their homes to welcome the spirits.
If you are studying Spanish at our school in Guanajuato these weeks, you are lucky! There are lots of celebrations in the city and at school you will learn how to create an altare together with your teacher and fellow students.
