Between the Palau Nacional de Montjuïc and Avenida de la Reina Maria Cristina, the Magic Fountain was built for the 1929 Universal Exhibition by the engineer Carles Buïgas. It wasn’t until the 1980s that music was incorporated, and for the 1992 Barcelona Olympics it was completely restored.
Since its inauguration, the Magic Fountain of Montjuïc has become a symbol of Barcelona with its show of music, light and color while the most important events of the city are held.
Locals and visitors gather around the fountain to enjoy its choreographies, which make up a unique show where the water dance hypnotizes the public.
