A visit to the market in Salamanca

At our school in Salamanca, we believe that interaction with the outside world can help a lot in the language learning process. So, every now and then, we organize an activity outside the classroom.

We love going out on sunny days, and this was a beautiful, warm one so we decided it was a great idea to visit Salamanca’s Central Market. This is the oldest food market in the city and is a protected architectural work of more than a century old. In addition to the aesthetic contribution of the building, it offers typical products of the province, as well as the best meat, fish, and vegetables.

In order to encourage interaction with locals, we proposed to our students a fun activity and divided them into small groups to play a game. We provided each group with a shopping list and a series of activities that they had to complete in order to chat with native speakers in a very spontaneous way.

We really had a blast and are already planning our next activity outdoors. The students got to chat a lot with the shop owners and, also, the winning team got a prize! ????
