Our Summer tradition

Last Wednesday we resumed with our Summer tradition: a trip to the Búnkers del Carmel once per month to spend the afternoon together.

The bunkers del Carmel is a viewpoint, located at the top of Turó de la Rovira, from where you can see the entire city of Barcelona (360º views of the city).

During the Spanish Civil War there was an anti-aircraft battery. And later one of the last shack neighborhoods was established. Despite being popularly known as “los bunkers”, there has never been a bunker at the top of Turó de la Rovira, only an anti-aircraft battery and its facilities.

During the years leading up to the 1992 Barcelona Olympics all the shacks were demolished, leaving the Turó de la Rovira abandoned. That’s when the citizens of the nearby neighborhoods started to go up there to enjoy the little-known views of the entire city of Barcelona.

Little by little the bunkers became known and today it is one of the best viewpoints in Barcelona!
