We met at the metro station and walked from there through the picturesque narrow streets of barrio Born to the entrance of the Picasso museum. The building itself is already beautiful. The museum is housed in five adjoining medieval palaces in the Old City, it is located on Montcada Street, a formerly very prestigious street home to wealthy merchants and nobility.
The Picasso museum is very rich in regard to work from the formative years in the life of the artist; it is practically exhaustive up to the Blue Period. The Museum also houses an important representation of works from 1917, and the series Las Meninas (1957) as well as a comprehensive print collection. Las Meninas is a series of 58 paintings that Pablo Picasso painted in 1957 by performing a comprehensive analysis, reinterpreting and recreating several times Las Meninas by Diego Velázquez.
We had a great evening amongst Picasso´s paintings!
